1 Samuel 24: 1-22 David Spares Saul's Feelings

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here we see grace and forgiveness in action. David had his chance, and how tempted must he have been to kill Saul on the spot. Here is the man who has been pursuing him, who has been mistreating him, who wants him, David, dead. All David has to do is use the sword or spear that was in his hand, but he didn't. Instead of opting for murder, David chose to be gracious unto Saul and spare his life. This the kind of faith to which we should all aspire. God would have us forgive and not take vengeance. God would have us love not harbor feelings of resentment and hate. In reading this story I think it is clear the path we are supposed to take: one of compassion and forgiveness; one of love and grace. God bless you,

Pastor Josh
