1 Samuel 14: 24-48; Jonathan Eats Some Honey

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is similar to some of the ideas we find in Paul's writings of the New Testament. Jonathan was faithful to God, and yet he was almost killed because of a silly law (implemented by a man, Saul) about eating. He had just a touch of honey and Saul thought that was reason enough to kill him. In the end, though, the people of Israel stepped in and stopped Saul. In the end they saw the truth that God cares more about faith than he does about living by 'silly laws.' Jonathan was a faithful person, doing the will of God in the world, and that is what really matters. What matters is not how many of the Levitical laws, or any other sill human laws, we can keep but how fervently we believe in God and his son Jesus Christ. God bless you,

Pastor Josh
