1 Samuel 20: 1-42; David and Jonathan

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

The relationship between David and Jonathan is godly. Jonathan, from a strictly human standpoint, should hate David. David is Jonathan's father's enemy, so Jonathan should be carrying out his father's wishes by killing David. However, Jonathan knows that David has found favor in the Lord's eyes; he knows that David is loved by God. As such, Jonathan loves David. These two men who should have been mortal enemies managed to love each other. This is what Jesus is talking about when he says we are to love our enemies and pray for them. This is the idea of godly relationships or godly love, loving everyone. Jonathan and David are a lesson for us to love one another, no matter what. God bless you.
