Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
I think David, and the rest of the folks in this passage would have benefited from hearing the greatest commandment, 'to Love your neighbor as yourself.' David killed, or had killed, the person who brought him the news Saul was dead; then he killed, or had killed, the people who killed Saul's sons. If David had heard the greatest commandment maybe he would not have killed these men and so many other people. David sometimes serves as a reminder of what not to do. We're not supposed to kill or harm in any way our brothers and sisters in Christ (which is everyone). No, we are to love. That is the will of Jesus, it is the will of God: that we love one another.
