Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is not very hard to imagine the kind of life David is living now: one of fear. David fears that his entire kingdom, all of his power and prestige, is going to be lost. David was slightly obsessed with his earthly kingdom and did all within his power to preserve it. How nice it is for us to have a heavenly kingdom, a kingdom which will never end, a kingdom which we will never lose. I pity David because he could not see the good news of God that he, too, was going to get a heavenly kingdom. That is the good news we have. Let us always work, as Jesus says, to store up treasures for ourselves in heaven, where our true kingdom lies. God bless you.
