1 Samuel 31: 1-13; Saul Takes His Life

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Saul's entire life, at least his life as Israel's ruler/king, is a tragedy. For his part he tried to do the right thing many times, but in the end God chose David to be king. I must confess that I have always felt a great deal of sympathy for Saul. With his death, though, comes a new beginning for Israel. David is the beloved king of Israel, one who brought prosperity to the land. While it is sad to read about Saul dying, especially in this way, we must remember, too, that God was still doing great things for Israel, namely David. We may be going through a very sad and difficult time, but in those times we have hope knowing God is at work in our lives. Remember that when you face trials and tribulations. No matter what is going on, God is always at work, for something good, in your life. God bless you.
