2 Samuel 16: 5-14; Shimei Curses David

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Let him curse, for the LORD has told him to." At this point David has made his peace with the Lord's punishment. He has now recognized that he has sinned against the Lord, and he recognizes that he is being punished for what he has done. The theology of the Old Testament is sometimes diifficult to hear, but what we can learn from David here is that we all ought to recognize that we have sinned against God. Paul, in his letter to Romans, writes, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." It is important for all of us to recognize that we need Jesus in our lives; we need Jesus to save us. Like Paul, and like David, we have sinned against God, and we need to be like David and recognize that, that we might grow in our faith and service to God. God bless you.
