Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
David is sometimes a little different than we are, but I think this particular way in which he is different is a good thing. David is living out the commandment that Jesus will give later: to love our neighbor as ourself, which does include our enemies. David and Saul were enemies, but David loved Saul anyway, because that is what we are supposed to do. There are times when we should not imitate David. But this is a time in which I think we can and should imitate him. Saul, his enemy has died, and David mourns for him. 'Love your neighbor (even your enemies) as yourself,' says Jesus. That is precisely what David did, and that is precisely what we should do. God bless you,
Pastor Josh
