Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Absalom did not repent. Judging by the way in which David mourned for his son when he died, I think we can safely say that David would have welcomed Absalom back had Absalom repented. Before we can follow Jesus we must repent; before we can call ourselves disciples we must turn from our old life into a new life with Christ. When we do that we are welcomed. Had Absalom done so I'm sure things would have turned our differently. But we have the good news from Jesus that if we repent and turn to him we will have a new life in us, we will the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. If you have not completely turned around to follow Jesus I invite you to do so now and accept the new life that he offers. God bless you.
