Luke 11: 1-13; Jesus' Teaching on Prayer

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Persistence and trust go hand in hand, and it is an odd combination to be sure. On the one hand we are supposed to trust God. Jesus teaches us the Lord's Prayer, a simple prayer, because we are supposed to trust that God will take care of our needs. On the other hand we are to be persistent in our prayers to make sure God is taking care of us. Think of the persistence as us making the prayer come true. When we pray for something we need to be prepared to be a part of the prayer. For example, when we pray for God's kingdom to come, we need to be ready to make that happen. Our persistence is our act of doing what we can to make the prayer come true. We trust that God is going to take care of us, but we need to be active as well. We trust in God's love, but we persist in our own work. God bless you.
