I think this is most likely where the idea for the commandment 'do not lie' came from. Look at all the trouble Abraham caused by simply not telling the truth. Just think about how much trouble could have been spared had Abraham simply told the truth. The other issue here is Abraham's lack of faith. He did not believe that God would protect him. No matter what, always be truthful knowing God will watch over you. Do not fall into the trap of thinking you need to lie to be safe. Trust in the Lord, for he is good. God bless you,
