And in this passage we hear about the fallout from Israel's idol worship. Israel's relationship with God suffered because of idol worship, and in this passage we learn that Jerusalem is going to be inhabited. The Promised Land is going to be taken away from the Israelites. God disciplines. He disciples his children when they go astray. God punished the Israelites for their lack of faith. Might the same happen to us if we follow a path outside of God's grace?
