Isaiah 42: 1-9; The Servant of the LORD

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

'...to open the eyes of the blind, to free captives from prison, and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.' This sounds an awful lot like the kinds of things Jesus did in his ministry. As I read these words (which Jesus uses about himself in Matthew 11) I am reminded of Jesus' ministry: the people he helped, the eyes he opened, the ones he freed. But I am also reminded of the Biblical mandate for us to continue what Jesus started. We are called to continue the ministry of Jesus, which means we are the ones who are now supposed to be opening people's eyes to the love of Jesus; we are supposed to lead people to freedom from sin; we are to bring light into people's lives by sharing our faith with them. We have work to do, Jesus Work. God bless you.
