Luke 12: 13-21; The Parable of the Rich Fool

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is fitting that just after Jesus talks about the heresy of the Pharisees he gives an example of what heresy is. In the time of Jesus, just like today, there were those who were convinced that having a lot of stuff, money, etc. was the way to get into heaven. Jesus continually preaches against this notion; the notion that we, as the Children of God, ought to be aquiring wealth and possessions. The message of Jesus is not one of being rich in terms of material possessions; the message of Jesus is that of serving God by doing for those who have nothing, of being in the world, but not of the world, etc.. We are cautioned by Jesus against the dangers of living in a life of wealth and prosperity. Let the record show that Jesus wants us to be rich toward God, not toward the world. God bless you,

Pastor Josh
