Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mark presents for us a Jesus who is very human, which, for me, makes this scene one of the most heartbreaking of the entire passion narrative. Jesus, being human, is going to miss seeing his friends each and every day. Jesus, being human, has just a little bit of fear that his friends are not going to remember him, which is why he gives them this meal. Jesus instituted the Last Supper for many reasons, but one that we need to which we need to pay continual attention is that the Last Supper is an act of remembrance. We take the bread and drink from the cup to remember Jesus and the sacrifice he made for us. Remember Jesus. God bless you.
