Matthew 9: 1-8; Jesus Heals a Paralytic

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is entirely possible that this young man is paralyzed by the guilt he feels because of his sin. Jesus says to this young man, 'Take heart, son. Your sins are forgiven.' With those words in mind, rather than words of healing, it is very likely that what weighs this man down is his own sense of guilt and failure. Those feelings are so strong he is unable to move because of them. Jesus tells the man his sins are forgiven. We need to keep this story in our minds. We are forgiven. Jesus has freed us not only from the punishment from sin, he has freed us from the guilt we feel because of that sin. We no longer have to feel guilty because of what we have done. We are forgiven, our since are no more. The guilt we feel is unnecessary. We are allowed to simply rest in our salvation. Do not feel guilty, Jesus has taken away your sin. God bless you.
