Judges 7: 1-25; Gideon Defeats the Midianites

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Trust is always an important factor. Imagine the look on Gideon's face as the Lord trims down his army from 24,000 men to 300. That is quite a drop in numbers. I imagine Gideon thinking, somewhere in his heart, that 300 men is not enough to win the fight. Most of us would think the same thing. However, in the end, Gideon trusts the Lord, and the Lord delivers him and his people. This is possible because Gideon trusts God. He trusts that God is going to provide everything he needs in order to win. Gideon is a living example of what it means to trust the Lord when it seems like everything is going to come crashing down. We may not find ourselves in the exact same situation, but there are many times in our lives when we may think the Lord is not strong enough, that there is too much going on. The numbers, statistics, power, etc. of the world overwhelm us to the point where we simply do not have enough trust in the Lord. In those times we can remember Gideon. We can remember that with only 300 men God delivers Gideon and his people. Gideon trust the Lord. We should show that same trust. God bless you.
