Matthew 4: 18-22; The Calling of the First Disciples

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus called the fishermen. As much as I love fishing I will tell you that fishermen in the time of Jesus were not known for their intellect. Jesus could have chosen the smartest, richest, most well-connected people to join him in his ministry. Instead, though, he called the simple fishermen. What this means for us is that God can use anyone. This passage is for all those who think they are not good enough, smart enough, rich enough, etc. to be used by Jesus. We are called into God's service, and God can use all of us. It does matter where we come from, the color of our skin, what we do for a living, what our GPA was in college. God can, and will, use anyone. We need to be willing to get out of the boat and follow him. God bless you.
