Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Commands are commands, not suggestions. Jesus tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and he means that. He tells us to love the Lord with our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and he means that, too. Jesus requires us to live a certain way, and this requirement is not optional. In this passage Jesus is drawing a line in the sand. We can either follow Jesus and do what he wants, or not. There is no gray area. There is no place for a feeble attempt at being obedient to Jesus. We must repent. We must obey. Period. God bless you.
