Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Transfiguration marks a transition in the ministry of Jesus. The time prior to the transfiguration has been a time in which his main concern was to heal, preach, and teach Now, though, Jesus is going to be concerned, mainly, with getting to Jerusalem to provide salvation for the world. In Marks's gospel we get the best of both worlds, really. First we are introduced to a Jesus who is going to heal us, teach us, and guide us. Then we are introduced to a Jesus who is going to save us from sin. Both of these roles Jesus plays still hold true today. Jesus still heals, teaches, and guides. And Jesus still saves us.
