Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Israelites had 'hard hearts,' which is why they were permitted to divorce. Our hearts have been softened by Jesus in such a way that divorce is not something we should want to do. This softness applies not only to divorce, but other things that come into our lives: other temptations, emotions, etc. Our hearts have been softened by Jesus, which means we should not want to do the things we used to do before he came into our lives. If you are holding on to bitterness, anger, or anything else that causes you to live outside of God's will, allow Jesus to come into your heart and to soften it, that you might live inside God's will.
