Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
We cannot be righteous by ourselves. I think that is what Paul means here. We do not have the strength by ourselves to be the holy and perfect people God calls us to be. However, through Jesus we are given the strength we need to be holy and perfect. Because Jesus is with us we have the strength to be rigtheous. Through communion, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are given all the strength we need to be righteous. God bless you.
