Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
"But so we may not offend them..." Jesus' concern throughout his life and ministry is of others. In this case, Jesus is concerned for the feelings of the tax-collectors and the government officials. Jesus does not have a lot of money just sitting around to pay some of these large taxes, but he makes sure the money is paid so as to not offend anyone. Jesus continually does everything within his power to make sure that the people around him are happy. Jesus continues to do this for us as well. Jesus continues to reach out to us in our times of need and do everything in his power to make sure we have joy and peace in our lives. In all things Jesus puts our needs and desires first.
